Workshop Description:

ZERO BALANCING has been called “the most revolutionary development in bodywork today.”

Introduction to Zero Balancing will give participants a basic working knowledge of Zero Balancing theory, some key techniques they can immediately integrate into their work with clients, and direct experiences of giving and receiving Zero Balancing in class supervised by the instructor.

There is no other form of bodywork quite like Zero Balancing. Zero Balancing (ZB) works with the deepest layers of connective tissue in the body. Whereas Swedish and deep tissue focus primarily on muscles, ZB uniquely focuses on the skeletal system and the fascia associated with it.

In this way it gives the therapist new techniques for engaging and relieving the deepest levels of tension and pain. In addition Zero Balancing uniquely integrates structure as well as energy. Its founder, Dr. Fritz Smith, is an osteopath who studied with Ida Rolf, acupuncture with J.R. Worsley, and meditation with Swami Muktananda – thus, his work integrates both Eastern and Western techniques and understandings.

The effects of Zero Balancing with clients are a deeper relief from body-held tension: resolution of pain that other massage and bodywork modalities have not resolved; a feeling of deep relaxation; a dramatic neurological shift from the fight or fligh response toward rest and repose: ZB affectts the vagus nerve and all the organs and tissues with which it is connected.

For therapists who have been working primarily with attention to the skin and the muscles, it adds the missing piece to their work – the ability to release tension at the deepest level of the body.
